Getting to the alps

Once you’ve picked the location, you need to find out the best way to get there. It’s always been a bit tricky to find the most efficient transport method to reach the Alps, normally you need to book your flight (or train) and then book a transfer from the airport to the resort.

At the beginning of the season (early December), there will be fewer choice and pricer options as tourists tend to come flocking later on.

When booking which airport to fly from you should consider the length of time to reach your destination on the other side, availability of transfer and flight cost. We recommend finding a suitable flight and then checking transfer availability and cost before buying.

For those taking the Eurostar from London St Pancreas, there are a couple of options for where you can travel to in order to reach the slopes. First of all, you’ll need to take the Eurostar to Paris and then change to a TGV train in order to arrive at either Moûtiers (choose this for 3 Valleys) Aime La Plagne or Bourg-Saint-Maurice (choose this for Paradiski and Espace Killy).

For those heading to Les Arcs 1600 you can take the funicular straight from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to the village.

If you are taking the train to Morzine resort, an initiative by Montagne Verte called the AlpinExpress Pass will give you discounts on ski passes, transportation and ski hire as an encouragement to use more carbon-friendly methods of transportation.

Transfer To A Resort

Finding the best transfer on the other side normally requires looking at different operators to see if they have availability and a reasonable price. As mentioned above, if you’re travelling to the Alps earlier or later in the season, shared transfer is harder to find. We’ve listed the top transfers to each resort below, make sure you go through a few of them to find the best deal.
